There are a number of exceptional tips for excursions in the direct vicinity of the Residenz Winkler.

Elegant Munich or charming Salzburg, the Chiemsee islands, the world famous glass factory Riedel in Kufstein or the Crystal World of Swarovski in Wattens. You can reach these destinations by car (fast and uncomplicated).

The Residenz Heinz Winkler is a starting point for a lot of sport activities, too. In the marvellous winter scenery you can do both alpine and cross-country skiing. Also carriage and sleigh rides are excellent options. In the summer you can choose between a number of golf courses in the nearby area or you can prove your ability in Nordic Walking on the new Priental parcous.

A trip to the Mozart city of Salzburg

Salzburg invites you to stroll around and to enjoy many places of interest. Salzburg’s „Old Town“ is internationally renowned for its baroque architecture and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Theatres, concerts and art as well as numerous museums and monuments attract and fascinate culture lovers from all over the world. Salzburg was the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His house of birth and residence are tourist attractions. The Salzburg Festival is a world famous music festival that attracts visitors through the months of July and August each year. A smaller Salzburg Easter Festival is held around Easter each year. All concerts and events can be booked through the Residenz Heinz Winkler.

Munich is always worth a visit

Munich welcomes you with charm and heart, with numerous architectural attractions, international sports events, exhibitions, museums, extravagant boutiques and tempting shopping streets.

The Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, arguably the most famous beer hall worldwide is located in the city centre. It is, as well as the Oktoberfest, one of Munich’s most famous attractions. For two weeks, the Oktoberfest attracts millions of people visiting its beer tents and fairground attractions.

Chiemsee - a place of rest and relaxation

Only a few kilometers away from Aschau you can find the freshwater lake Chiemsee, often called the Bavarian Sea. This famous recreation area invites you to long walks and bicycle tours and to the Chiemsee Islands. The biggest is Herrenchiemsee with the famous palace, built by King Ludwig II, which was never completed but was meant to be a replica of the Palace of Versailles. Frauenchiemsee, the smaller island houses a Benedictine nunnery built in 782 as well as a small romantic village.

The Chiemsee offers plenty for everyone who likes water, sailing and swimming. And it goes without saying that delicious fish from the Chiemsee is being served at the Residenz Heinz Winkler.

Tourist Attractions

The romantic village of Aschau is an ideal base for cultural discoveries and tourist attractions. A very special automobile museum can be found in Amerang. It presents a rich and fascination exhibition of vintage and contemporary automobiles. In Kufstein you can visit the world famous Riedel glass works. Riedel was the first factory to design glasses shaped in a way that respects the wine's character. The result is the greatest pleasure when drinking wine and other beverages. Satisfying the human senses was the underlying concept for the famous Riedel Crystal. You also can visit the Swarovski crystal worlds in Wattens (Austria).

The Priental valley - experience the Upper Bavarian way of life with pleasure

The Priental valley with its climatic health resort Aschau im Chiemgau and the mountaineering village Sachrang offers pure holiday enjoyment all year round. The Prien torrent meanders wonderfully through the hilly land of the valley of the same name - picturesquely framed by the Chiemgau's local mountain, the Kampenwand, whose three-pronged peak is the region's landmark. At its feet lies the traditional climatic health resort of Aschau im Chiemgau, which has served as a restful domicile for over 130 years for both "summer visitors" and winter holidaymakers. At the far end of the Priental, along the Prien to the source at the Spitzstein, in the mountaineering village Sachrang with its nature reserve Geigelstein everyone finds peace and quiet.

Around 300 kilometres of hiking trails lead contemplatively through the valley or up to the peaks of the Kampenwand, which can also be climbed by cable car. For families with children, the western high-altitude trail is particularly recommended: the "Boarischer Entschleunigungsweg" (Bavarian deceleration trail) leads to nine stations, where unusually designed theme banquets invite you to do small relaxation exercises and to linger with a wonderful view of the valley, Hohenaschau Castle and the Kampenwand. Another 200 smart, special and unusual bankers, designed by the municipality as well as by citizens, associations and shops, can also be found in the centre of Aschau im Chiemgau and Sachrang. The enthroned Hohenaschau Castle from the 11th century can be visited by the public during the summer months.

The magnificent expansive Alpine panorama with the lake Chiemsee in the foreground and a unique view: pure pleasure for your eyes and soul. Float away in a hot-air balloon for a few hours and enjoy the exhilarating scenery.

The balloon ride starts at 10 am or 2 pm if the weather permits - we are happy to facilitate your contact with the ballooning company.

Nordic Walking and cross-country skiing

The Chiemgau region is a true paradise for Nordic Walking tours. Five walking routes of varying difficulty are enticing to do outdoor activities. All routes are equipped with heart rate and information boards.

A good 18 kilometres of perfectly prepared trails invite you to enjoy the romantic Prien valley. Ski rentals are available and we will be pleased to organize an experienced trainer for you to support your fitness activities.

Carriage and sleigh rides

Ride in original English carriages: 45-minutes round trip to the Hohenaschau castle or a 2-hour ride along the Kampenwand mountain, in the northern Prien valley. The destination is a vantage point near Hittenkirchen. During the ride or at the destination, mulled wine, hot chestnuts, cookies and other delicacies will be served.
